Senior Hero admits meeting Dawood Ibrahim
Bollywood star Sanjay Dutt admitted meeting underworld don and India's most wanted criminal Dawood Ibrahim in Dubai before the 1993 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai. He, however, denied any friendship with the dreaded criminal in his answer to a query in the Supreme Court.
Sanjay Dutt was arrested after the bomb blasts and the court has sentenced him to six years imprisonment under the Arms Act for illegal possession of arms. The actor challenged the trial court verdict and the petition came up for hearing in Supreme Court recently. In his confessional statement, Dutt stated that he attended a dinner hosted by Dawood in Dubai before the blasts along with two film producers and never been in touch with the don after that.
The apex court has delivered the 1993 Mumbai bomb blast verdict on November 1st, 2011. As many as 12 people were awarded death penalty and 78 others were sentenced to jail term ranging from three years to life imprisonment.
