Rajesh Khanna's family organised his chautha at a five star hotel in a grand way. The entire industry was present to bid goodbye to its first superstar.

There were friends and colleagues of Kaka — the Bachchans (Amitabh, Jaya with daughter Shweta) and Kapoors (Shashi, Kunal, Randhir, Rishi and Neetu, Rajiv and Ranbir). Then there were friends and colleagues of Dimple Kapadia, daughter Rinke and Twinkle.

Son-in-law Akshay Kumar's contemporaries including Sonakshi Sinha, Deepika Padukone, Tabu, Neha Dhupia, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Suniel Shetty with Mana among others were also present. Apart from the film industry, there were people from the business world as well as politics.

The venue was adorned in white roses and orchids, and there was a larger than life photograph of the late actor. A teary-eyed Dimple said a few words. It is believed that Rajesh Khanna wanted his farewell to be on a happy note. He believed he celebrated life to the fullest so he wanted people to always remember him like that. And his family ensured that his wish was fulfilled.

Twinkle was with son Aarav, who came on stage to introduce an audio clip of his nana. In the clip, Rajesh Khanna spoke about how he started his career, his theatre background, how he got his first film, how he had no godfather, the ups and downs in his life and thanking the industry and his fans for all the support they gave him over the years. The clip ended with Kakaji reciting a shayari in his trademark style.
