Maasi - Encounter specialist
Films starring Arjun as police officer are filled with action. Maasi is no different. It has everything to enthuse action-lovers. Directed by Kitcha, Maasi is about a police officer on a mission. He fights a gang of baddies in a bid to eliminate the society of criminals.
The movie boasts of a huge star cast that includes Kotta Srinivasa Rao, Pradeep Rawat, Ponnambalam, Santhana Bharathy, Dhool Sakunthala, Bala Singh among others.
Story
Maasi (Arjun) is a police officer specialised in encounters. He is a terror for criminals. He vows to eliminate the baddies - Naaga (Pradeep Rawath), operating from Mumbai and Nandha (Ponnambalam) who with his henchmen controls Chennai. Interestingly there is a gang war between Nandha and Naaga.
Massi steps in. He suffers loss in the form of his wife, mother from the hands of these baddies. There is a political twist in the tale too. However he uses his muscles and also his brain to outwit them and achieve his mission.
Performance
It is a typical Arjun in khaaki. Someone whom we had seen for many years. He is good as usual in stunt sequences. The actor is youthful and bubbly. The heroines Hema and Archana have no part to play in this macho-man story. All the villains speak from their belly and look like caricatures.
Technicalities
Boopathy has done the camera and the chase and stunts are captuired well. Saleem's editing is okay, while Dhina has come up with songs that sounds familiar to us. Anal Arasu's stunts sequences holds our attention.
Analysis
It is a beaten - to-bush storyline. A ll is predictable in this cop story. But Arjun's screen presence makes the difference. Kitcha's passion for khakhi continues
